Prioritizing the people at the center of commerce

At Etsy, we’re committed to using the power of business and technology to strengthen communities and empower people around the world.

But, we can’t rely on our business alone to make the change we want to see in the world. That’s why we lead advocacy campaigns and invest in social programs to advance our mission to keep commerce human.

We advocate for public policies that make it easier for all creative entrepreneurs–on and off Etsy–to pursue their passions, work for themselves, and succeed on their own terms.

Our work is seller-powered and mission-driven. We prioritize connecting Etsy sellers with the policymakers that represent them, and advocating for collaborative policy solutions that leverage the power of the public and private sectors to address the challenges our community faces.

In addition to economic empowerment, we also advocate for public policies that advance our public commitments to equity and ecological sustainability.

We stand up for equal protections for all, and support economic justice policies to help historically marginalized communities overcome the barriers they face to entrepreneurship.

To combat climate change, we support bold policies to decarbonize the transportation and logistics sector, as well as strategies to help businesses of any size achieve carbon neutral operations.

Our social impact programs advance economic justice.

We are committed to making sure everyone has an equal opportunity to start, grow, and thrive in the creative economy. In particular, our programs are focused on dismantling barriers to entrepreneurship for women from economically disenfranchised communities.

Our Maker Cities program helps local communities support and grow their creative economy, while Craft Entrepreneurship provides education and training to creative individuals in underserved communities who want to start a creative business. In partnership with CERF+, we also offer a Disaster Relief Fund for Etsy sellers impacted by natural disasters.

Funded via buyer donations, Etsy’s Uplift Fund, held by the Brooklyn Community Foundation, fosters equal opportunity to entrepreneurship by supporting nonprofits that help entrepreneurs access the resources they need to build successful small and microbusinesses.
